I am wanting to live stream using OBS.

What hardware do I need for Mac to recognize and use usb (or firewire) connected Sony handycam ax33?

I want to connect my video camera to my Macbook Air I have a video camera that uses a Firewire cable. I want to connect it to my 2017 13" Macbook Air; it does not have a Firewire port. It only has a Thunderbolt port which I believe is a Thunderbolt 2 port although I can't find that noted anywhere in the specifications. Which adapter do I use? Does it have to be an adapter that matches the Thunderbolt number of my Macbook Air? Apple sells a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter but the requirements for use specific OS v10.7.4 or later. I am running OS v10.12.6. Will that work? Will this one adapter work? or do I need two adapters? How do I know whether the Firewire cable I have is 400 or 800?

Connecting a Handycam to a Macbook Catalina Dear Sirs, I have connected my DCR-PC1000E Handycam to my IMac with MacOS Catalina (bought late November 2019) , using an A1790, an A1463, firewire adapter, the firewire cable to the handycam. All is connected. I downloaded LifeFlix DV Importer and editor. Unfortunately the program and the iMac don't recognise the Handy CAM. Thank you for your reply, Kind regards, Jan

I am needing a portable camera as well as the camera on my mac. OSB then can switch from one camera to another as you live stream and event or interview. Thank you for your reply. If I want to upgrade the built in webcam, I will look at these options.
