HighSierra 10.13 with Java v8.211

I bought a new computer and shows updated OS HighSierra v10.13.6

Google chrome applet worked on prior Java version , but after I updated Java to v8.211 but is is not working for the applet that uses it.

I did the step to allow Java, on the browser preferences.

What can you recommend, saw ther emight be bugs on this version.

Or I do I revert to previous Java.

The plug-in architecture is no longer supported by any of those three browsers. You can buy anything to your heart's content, but it is not going to make the plug-in work.

Both of those articles point to using web start applications. Whatever you need that requires a web browser, contact their support and see if they have a web start version.

Seems as of Safari 12, the plug-ins are no longer supported.

As for Firefox, you'll need to find an old, 32-bit version which will no longer work on Catalina being released this fall.

It doesn't matter what version of Java you install. The plug-in architecture it uses is no longer supported on any of the three major browsers.

  • macOS: Use the Waterfox browser. In May, 2019, this is the only macOS (11.12 Sierra or later) browser that runs both Proteopedia and FirstGlance in Jmol with Java. Permission dialogs for using Java are straightforward.

To instruct Proteopedia to use Java, add ?use=java to the end of the URL in the browser's address line. Details.

To instruct FirstGlance to use Java, add &java to the end of the URL in the browser's address line.
