Polished macbook keys from usage

Hello there,

i would like to ask about the macbook pro 2016 model keyboard.

I am working daily on my macbook, and i noticed first something like grease on CMD key for example, or SPACE key.

But then i have cleaned the whole macbook, whiped it clean but the most frequently used keys on keyboard are still looking like polished, and they are different also on touch now than less used keys.

I have never noticed this on my previous macbook, is this material issue?

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14

Since you are almost certainly a touch typist to get that kind of mileage out of your keyboard, even if the printed characters on those keys wear off, you will not need them.

Polished keys from usage are not a "defect in materials or workmanship" and are not covered under warranty. They are a badge of honor for your hard work.

If you are wondering if there is a replacement program for your issue, there is not. If your machine is out of warranty your option is to pay for the keyboard to be replaced or live with it.

Hehe that was good one.

Im cleaning whole macbook with microfiber, and just most used buttons have this shiny look.

I tried the cleaning tissues with alcohol after i found the buttons are like polished/overused, it’s bad choice of material.

So you are wrong with the answer.

Thank you all for the responds and opinions, and i was just surprised that my previous generation macbook was without this keyboard issue even when i was using much longer.

Bob i was using microfiber all the time before i saw this material "effect" on buttons i use most, then i tried other products to get rid of it.
