gfxcardstatus 1.4.4 suddenly refuses to run on MBP mid-2010 ??
I have one of those dreaded 2010 MBPs which shuts down if the high performance GPU is engaged for a while.
For the last n+ years I've used gfxcardstatus as a startup item, set to 'internal GPU only' to suppress attempts to switch to the hi-performance GPU. (Seems like always some web page with ad videos.)
And, as was reported in this thread: gfxcardstatus 2.44i - Apple Community
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8316681
there are still times when it hiccups a bit while switching back to the internal GPU. Occasionally, it gray screens if it doesn't get reset quick enough.
Today, after one of these crashes, it issued the following alert:
What???
I'm afraid to review low-level processes cited in former thread. [*nix geeks may now gloat. Okay, enough!] : >)
Last year the Apple store tech guy said they couldn't help; that Apple had removed all support literature from their internal system related to this model, and that no spares were available.
I'll try cmd-p-r, but otherwise - ideas??
