Cracked screen smelling like mold

I’ve been owning an iphone 5s for almost 5 years now, and i’ve recently dropped it and the screen cracked.

It has like a really big crack in the middle almost like a circle, i can’t really explain it. I’ve noticed that the screen smells like mold there. I don’t know if it’s just me being paranoid but it smells like actual mold.

I don’t have the money for a new phone right now because i want to get an iphone again and i think it’s not worth the money to replace the screen on a phone this old.

Should i be worried?

I don't think you should be worried; you are probably smelling the liquid crystal suspension liquid. Apple would charge you $129 to replace the screen, but for a phone that old you might consider a 3rd party screen replacement service; they can be found in any mall. I would never suggest self-repair, however, for the 5S it's pretty easy if you are careful, have good manual dexterity and can follow directions.
