iPod Classic Headphone Jack

Hi,

I have an iPod classic that is really the only apple product I love and use, and it still works really well... except lately, the sound has only been coming from one side of my headphones, even if I switch to another set. I realised that the problem is with the headphone jack on the ipod itself. I think something is loose inside or something, I'm not sure.

Problem is, I don't know if I can get this repaired, or how much this would cost. I'd have to go way out of my way to get it fixed anyway because there's no apple store in my city.

Does anyone have any advice?

The part (headphone jack & hold switch assembly) costs a few $/£ and is available from the likes of Amazon and eBay along with the tools to perform the operation yourself if you are game. You should be able to find a reasonably local third party repair shop that can supply and fit if you're not. The hard task with a classic is getting the case open without doing too much cosmetic damage. Tutorial videos are available online.
