Contact the dean of the school for your course of study.
Since the MacBook Pro is a computer and the iPad Pro is not, I say that the MacBook Pro is the better device for school.

Depends on what "schooling" means. Definitely a computer is better but maybe the needed computer would be different if taking Engineering vs. Basket Weaving.
