iPad - Apple Smart Keyboard and dictation

Can we please get a dictation shortcut. Pleaaasssse!

I have been continuously frustrated by an issue I have been hitting with the Apple Smart Keyboard on my iPad Pro. It seems to be an obvious design oversight that has been raised by many users with no consideration from apple to improve upon it.

When using the Apple Smart Keyboard, (or any hardware keyboard) there is no reasonable way to activate dictation. The only way to get to it is by long pressing the chevron at the bottom of the screen and then switching between software keyboards to get the onscreen dictation button to appear.

There are various shortcuts we can use on a hardware keyboard like CMD+TAB and CMD+SPACE.

Can we please get a shortcut in for dictation please?

There are heaps of threads like the above and heaps more on external webpages also, and as you can see a lot of them date back a few years. I have put in two feedback requests.

Apple its time to resolve this issue.

I'm not aware of ANY Bluetooth Keyboard with a dictation button. The dictation feature is built into iOS and requires the onscreen keyboard to be active. The top names in Bluetooth keyboards are Zagg, Logitech and Brydge. None have a button to bring up dictation. All three have a key to bring up the onscreen keyboard, which is about all you're going to get.

Love your sarcasm, btw.

Its useful as a stand, and I go back and fourth between typing and dictation.

has anyone also noticed that even after the long press of the chevron the dictation button isn’t there?

See the picture below -

I need to select the keyboard/international button on the bottom left to switch back and fourth between keyboards until it shows up.

No one can give you a solution. We're not Apple. We didn't design the smart folio keyboard. Apple did.

I'll tell you what I did. I didn't buy the Smart Folio keyboard, because it lacks functionality I find important. There are loads of other options. I chose the Brydge Pro. Costs less than the Smart Folio. Includes backlit keys and dedicated iOS function keys, including a dedicated keyboard key to bring up the onscreen keyboard at the touch of one button.

Can anyone other than those trying to improve their ego, and or Apple support communities status find a solution or have any ideas?

I mostly use dictation for practicing other languages in apps like duo lingo and when conversing with friends overseas in facebook messenger.

Has anyone seen any good third party hardware keyboards with dictation buttons?

I use a 12.9 “ iPad Pro.
