Dropped Iphone X in water, touchscreen not responding and its having a massive ghost touch issue. Cannot turn off Iphone, removed sim card and no indication of water damage.

Water resistant does not mean waterproof. Sounds like water may have damaged the phone.

Either way, you need to make an appointment at an Apple store for more help. Plan to pay for repair.

Liquid damage is a fickle mistress. The device can work one day and be totally unusable the next. I'd HIGHLY recommend backing up your data now and frequently incase the device decides to stop working. That will save you a few hundred dollars if the phone stops working and you need the data retrieved.
Hopefully it continues to work and you don't face the need to replace the device!
Issue resolved itself, just let it sit overnight and it worked fine in the morning.
I have the exact same issue but I dropped it 8 days ago and its touch screen is still frozen
