Input Monitoring stops working until restart

Sometimes when I'm monitoring input for recording in Logic, it just stops monitoring between playbacks. Nothing is toggled, the trigger seems to be that playback has stopped and then started again. Restarting Logic fixes the problem.

The input shows up in the gain meter, but it cannot be heard, though no configuration has changed.
