Battery Replacement Expensive Macbook Pro late 2013

Hello,

the battery of my Macbook Pro late 2013 needs to be replaced, because it is swollen to the point that the Macbook can not even sit plane on a table.

I went to the Apple authorized repair shop here in Yerevan (Armenia) and the told me that just the hardware is going to cost around 750$, because the battery can not be ordered separately, but they need to order the whole unit of battery, keyboard and trackpad.

Is that correct? And what would the parts plus repair cost in US?

Thank you very much for your help.

On. a MacBook Pro you buy today, that answer would be basically correct. The field-replaceable unit is one item that consists of the battery, trackpad, keyboard, and surrounding metal top-plate.

It is possible they were giving you a price for the old one that is based on the approximate costs for today's MacBook Pro.

I suggest you ask them to sharpen their pencils and give you a firm quotation (not just an approximation) based on the actual cost of the parts, not the estimated cost.

So basically the “Apple Authorized” Repair-Shop here in Armenia wants to rip me of.

Thanks for the link kaz-k

A battery that has swollen to the extent that the bottom case is deformed has also likely done more damage as. It is standard policy to repair the computer, not just replace the battery. So no, I don’t think you are being ripped off.
