MAPS icon is gone, cannot find a way to get it back.
I've tried the guidance to find in the App store and "restore", but there is only an OPEN option, no restore option or cloud symbol to reload it. What should I try now?

There’s only “open” because it’s still on your iPhone hidden in a folder .
If you can’t find it in a folder and don’t mind all your apps being moved around , you can
go into settings- Reset- Reset home screen layout

Obviously my MAPS app is in some hidden folder and not completely removed. The article presumes the app somehow was deleted and you can restore it using the cloud symbol on the App Store. I do not get that option. Thanks for responding.
Search tells the name of the folder when it is a purchased app. It does not do so for MAPS as that is delivered with IOS and stored somewhere special. It doesn't tell me about any hidden folder. When I search it automatically opens the MAPS app.
Thanks, but I have quite a few apps organized in various folders that I would prefer to avoid having undone. Is there a way to find and un-hide a hidden folder?
I can open the app, but a search does not share where the APP is located. I want the icon for the app back on my screen. Thanks for responding.
Simply search for the 'Maps' app. Use Search on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
This article also explains how to restore built-in apps: Remove built-in Apple apps from the Home screen on your iOS 10 device or Apple Watch - Apple Support
As I said in my post, simply search for the 'Maps' app. Use Search on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support It'll tell you exactly where the app is located.
