can't attach photos to an email

difficulties in attaching photos to an email, operating system Mojave 10.14.5

MacBook Pro 15", macOS 10.14

How are you trying to attach them? The Photos icon on the top right of the compose window? Dragging a photo into the compose window? Using the paperclip icon? What happens when you try?

Thanks Dialabrain, I didn't realise I would have to drag the photos to the compose window....thought if I chose them, they would mount automatically.
