Is Safari version 12.1.1 fully compliant with HTML 5?
Not at the moment. My University is indicating that only Chrome and FireFox are fully compliant. However, I thought Apple had adopted HTML 5 early (in fact, I am thinking they were involved in standard setting), because the Adobe video format was a security risk and resource hog making its use undesirable for the iPhone.
So not an issue with Safari, but rather the code the site is using. Voice Thread is the specific App I am being asked to use within CANVAS (our LMS). I suspect the site is dated as to the information, but I will try it and if it doesn't work then I guess I will have to use Chrome or Firefox. Thanks.
Open the html5test site in Safari 12.1.1. Before you concern yourself with the displayed score out of 555 possible points, read the bottom content About HTML5TEST — so you understand what it does, or does not do.
Open Firefox 67.0.4 and compare its HTML5 support to Safari 12.1.1. There is more here with what is/is not supported, and if it really matters to your particular need — then the top score differences.
Thank you. Revealing information. It appears that Chrome and Firefox score higher overall. Biggest difference appears to be in the Forms test where Apple and Firefox do not do well, but Apple outscores both in Video. I am going to move forward with trying Safari alongside Chrome and see if I see any additions as I work up the class assignments. Thanks again.
Yes, Safari is HTML 5 compliant. You are correct about Flash Player.
It works for me. Are you having some problems?
Thank you. I won't worry about the dated info my University has then.
I don't know what web site that is, but I have read that some web site designs do not include the information/code to make Safari compatible with the web site.
You are welcome.
Let us know what happens.
Ok. I will try to remember :-) and to document exactly what problems I run into if any.
