Widget Translator- gone. Bummer.

I tried to use my built-in widget, the Translator, to make a quick translation without having to open something else up on the Internet or have to sign-in or add my email address to yet another potential vacuum site, but, lo, it doesn't work anymore--message is "data unavailable"--it's not getting a feed anymore. (I'm running El Capitan on the big Mac right now but have/had it on older operating systems--I'm sure it's still on my laptop but it probably doesn't work there either) Drat. I'm disappointed it no longer works. It was very useful and easy. I think the user "Viking"'s response to one of the post questions was right-on-the-mark. Unfortunately the response option on the post's feed no longer works so I'm putting in my two-cents here. Likely the widget(s) has been rendered obsolete, directed as a matter of course by public opinion or influence, whether it is/was useful or not. We must say good-bye to something else we liked. Change is enduring and the only thing we can count on.

Very interesting article in The Verge. Thanks for sharing the links. Truthfully I didn't refer to the Dashboard all that often because when I'm on a PC (Windows 7) at work all day I rarely use my laptop when I get home and when I get on the big Mac I don't usually need the widgets. But like I said before, when you're not on your phone and you need some go-to info quickly it is/was very reliable: Weather, Translator, Converter, Movies are the ones I used most frequently. Anyway, as they say in France, "C'est la vie".
