IPad Lock/Unlock with case won't work

Hello! Some hours ago I saw that my iPad would unlock when I opened the case neither lock when I closed it. I've tried 2 cases and they wouldn't work. What could it be? I've checked the option in the settings menu and it's checked. I'm running iOS 13 Developer Beta tho idk if it's updated...
