I desperately and urgently need help with Maps.

I was already far more frustrated than ever before in my life, but to keep this short, after wasting 2 hours of my holidays on Cyprus on trying to get navigation to work, let's just say, after all that happened today, I'm still happy because my phone safely landed on my pillow. If it didn't, I wouldn't be able to type this right now.

Okay, so, look at this photo by Apple (source:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202570):

I don't have this 3D view, the top of my screen looks slightly different, and at the bottom, I don't even have the estimated time of arrival or the other stuff next to it.

On the same page, there is this photo which shows Audio settings next to Details, and I don't have those Audio settings:

I tried reinstalling the app, I went through every possible setting to make sure that everything was set up properly, checked everything I could find on the whole Internet and now I'm here because I'm out of solutions.

Now, please carefully take a look at both provided photos from Apple, and now compare them to what I see:

I skipped to this road to avoid revealing my current location. Notice how I'm missing Audio which was supposed to be next to Details. Also, my view is 2D and I can't even see estimated time of arrival nor the other stuff from that photo, and the top of my screen looks a bit different.

How can I get Maps to work properly? Please do not recommend me to wipe all data because I already did that a month ago for other reasons.

I'm running the latest stable version of iOS (12.3) and once again, I checked everything that could cause problems, but I can't understand why am I missing the Audio options and why don't I have 3D view.

I have also tried if it works in New York just to be sure that it's not a regional problem, but no, it's not.

To make it simple, why is the app missing features (or why is it impossible to access them)?

Please, if possible, explain why am I missing the said features and why does my app look different? Asking pointless questions which never help anyone (no offence, but seriously though) like "do you have Location Services on" is not going to help, because for the third time, I made sure that everything is set up properly. My app obviously looks different and obviously lacks features, and I don't see how could this even be fixed.

Thanks in advance.

Wait, what? How does that even make sense? If they have accurate maps which cover all of Cyprus, and they even offer several different routes, how come these features are not available? It only takes a simple formula to calculate the estimated time of arrival. Also, if I have visual instructions on the screen, why can't just there be a voice saying "turn left" or whatever? I don't understand.

How could that even be? I have recently fully wiped all data using iTunes due to other reasons, and now deleted and reinstalled Maps using the App Store.

There is one more person with the exact same issue, who has provided a screenshot which shows what I see as well:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8126962

Look, someone who replied under the screenshot which looks similar to mine is also confused by the appearance of the top of the screen with these dots, as well as the lack of the time of arrival, Audio settings and so on.

I really have no clue what is wrong with this and how could I solve this. After hours of searching, the best I could find is another person who can't solve the exact same issue.

Since I'm on holidays, even if I wanted to, I don't have a PC with iTunes here, so I can't do that.

Notice how the person from the other thread made the post in 2017 using iOS 11.

From the link you posted:

  1. Turn-by-turn navigation works on iPhone 4s or later, iPad Pro, iPad Air or later, iPad 2 or later, and iPad mini or later with cellular data capability.
  2. Flyover is available on iPhone 4s or later, iPad Pro, iPad Air or later, iPad 2 or later, iPad mini or later, and iPod touch (5th generation or later). To use Flyover as you move your device through space, you need an iPhone 6s or later, iPad Pro, or iPad (5th generation or later) with iOS 11. Cellular data charges may apply.

What happens when you connect to cellular data?

I have an iPhone XR as you can see from my screenshot and Cellular Data works perfectly fine with constantly strong signal. I'm in my hotel room right now, so my signal is a bit weaker, but Cellular Data works great. Even if it didn't, that's not related to the said missing options.

I wasn't talking about Flyover, just the 3D perception of 2D maps. I wanted to keep the arrow which represents my location in the middle and always facing forward, while the roads rotate using compass. I got this sorted by tapping the location icon in the top-right corner twice and it works just how I wanted.

What I want to know is why don't I have the Audio options next to Overview and Details at the bottom, why am I missing the estimated time of arrival and why is the top of the screen slightly different? I believe that not having voice instructions is related to the missing Audio options.

But that is exactly the problem, it offers several routes which are all fully accurate, except I'm missing voice instructions, estimated time of arrival and so on. This literally makes no sense. Why are these features missing if proper routes and visual instructions are available and work accurately?

I cannot believe how absurd and illogical this is. I'm so disappointed that I spent hours of raging, just to find out that I can't even get proper navigation, even though they have accurate maps, several (also accurate) routes and all visual instructions. Absolute nonsense and yet another total disappointment today. This has to be the worst day of my life.

You could do the same thing with Mapquest years ago but it could not give you an accurate ETA or track you. As it clearly says in the article from Apple I provided to you they do not offer turn-by-turn guidance in Cyprus. In the Maps app ETA, etc. is updated by how fast your are going (if traffic is bad your ETA will change, if you deviate from the route and if you have it live traffic. It is not available in a generic Mapquest guesstimate. Yes, they have a static map and can show routes, just like I can do getting out a paper map. But GIS files go far beyond that and Apple does not yet have that available for Cyprus. It is a lot of work to do to bring GIS files up to that level. If this is the worst thing in your life then you have a pretty good life. And no, it is not absurd nor illogical. But it is an area you obviously have no expertise in and don't understand.

Well, thanks for the response. If anything, at least I wasted "only" 5 hours looking for a solution.

I'm really sorry for being annoyed, I had some personal problems today and I can't lie, I'm still disappointed that I wasted all this time just to find out that it actually is a regional thing. If anything, at least I'm no longer curious about what the problem was.

Again, thank you, and I apologise for this bunch of nonsense I've said.
