Mac Photos app not appearing as option in ITunes sync

I've plugged in my iPhone to sync to my mbp but when I go to the photos section to select the Photos library as my sync option, it doesn't show up as an option. Why?

Can no longer synch photos to ipad, only folders Until recently i could synch photos between my ipad and imac. Today that option has gone, when i turn on sync in itunes there is only the option to sync folders. In another post I saw a suggestion to select my photo library as system library in itunes preferences, but that option is greyed out. I only have one photos library. iOS 12.4.1, macOS 10.14.6, iTunes12.9.5.5.

Photos library sync failure I use iCloud to sync my Photos libraries across my Mac, iphone and ipad. I noticed that my iphone immediately syncs changes that I do on my Mac (e.g. deleting a picture) but my Ipad doesn't follow. I can add/remove/change albums but no changes seen there. It is the same iCloud account and there's enough space left on the device. Any suggestions? Can I force a sync?

Make sure your Photos library is designated as the System Photos Library:
