Itunes sync

I am trying to delete my icloud photos from my mac but not from my phone. I can't figure out how to turn off my photos sync, I read that there should be an Iphone icon in itunes and I'm supposed to click that but it's not there and I've signed in. I've updated and restarted iTunes, I don't know what to do.

Why not simply turn off iCloud Photos on your Mac.

This explains where to look. It talks about turning iCloud Photos on - simply turn it off instead.
