itunes 12.8.2.3 stopped playing music

I'm using an older imac (2010) running OS 10.12.2 and today it won't play my music library. I've made no system changes in the past 24 hours. I've repaired permissions and cleared the dns cache and those didn't help. I've restarted, tried using only the built in speaker, zapped pram.


Anyone have any tips?

I just fixed the issue. I restarted in recovery mode, ran disk first aid: repair, restarted and zapped PRAM. When it came back up, itunes worked again.
