Reviving that post that never was adequately addressed.

I too have no ~/Library/iTunes folder and thus no idea where IPSW files are being stored.

Here’s an ‘ls’ of my -/Library folder. Notice the lack of an iTunes folder.

iPhone device backups are stored at ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

The replies in that other Discussion are basically correct, and no iPhone software update files on your Mac will remain once they are installed on your iPhone. That's the reason you can't find ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates. It's gone.

If you want to restore your iPhone to factory settings, then read and follow Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings .... It also describes how to subsequently restore its content from an iTunes backup. I don't blame you for wanting to know just where it's stored on your Mac, but it's unnecessary knowledge.

Yes those are the exact same guides I followed. But As i stated I got an error message.

Describe the message.

The Apple support site then basically said to delete the IPSW file ...

Which Apple Support document is that? The correct way to restore your iPhone to factory settings is described in Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings. You don't need to do anything else. You don't even need a Mac, except to restore its previous content. I've done all those things many times, so I'm still unclear what's holding you up.
