macbook air external display compatibility

I currently use a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) with two 27" Apple thunderbolt displays. I need/want to upgrade my MacBook but need to know whether the new currently available MacBook Air would drive these displays through the Thunderbolt 3 connection to the "daisy chained" displays.

Anyone know whether this will work? I am assuming the MacBook Pro will.
