My iPhone calendars will not update. When I open the calendar app it shows a red exclamation mark in a circle to the left of the word "Calendars" at the bottom. When I tap calendars at the bottom to view my list of calendars "Unable to update calendars" is shown. First time I’ve had the issue. All settings for calendar set to show all events and push new data.

I would try to remove your account in Settings->Passwords & Accounts
Then re-add it again and see if they come back

Did you find a solution to this? I am having the same issue. I also have a "verify your account" showing up, but it won't let me click on it to verify the account.
