Battery charging

I’m curious why my non-Apple charger is no longer functioning. I have used it for a few years and never had a problem until a few weeks ago. It no longer charges my phone. Was this some sort of update that Apple implemented?

What message are you seeing? If you mean you think a power adapter isn't working, that's not likely something Apple is restricting. Most USB power supplies (including those from Apple) are simple voltage supplies.


I would say that one thing that may happen is that if the cable is starting to wear, there can often be messages that "this accessory may not be supported". I've gotten that with worn Apple and MFi Lightning cables. The fix would be to use another cable.
