Random Apple TV 4K random activity without touching remote or any device

Within a minute or so of the remote coming out of sleep, it starts scrolling down (most frequently) or left/right. Started very rare occurrence a week ago and today permanent condition unresolved by pair/unpair, restarts, unplugging. Apple Support hadn’t heard of this either, recommended replacement at store under warranty. Only temp solution is un-lug for a few minutes until remote goes to sleep. Then can use device or old silver remote until I get replacement.
