how to drag files with magic trackpad

I'm thinking of buying a magic trackpad to use with my imac but I can't find an answer to the following - how to drag files between folders. I have tried on my macbook trackpad using one finger to hold and drag a file, but if you run out of trackpad space before you get to the other folder it jumps back. I also found the option in accessibility to do a 'three finger drag', but it also fails if you run out of width on the trackpad.

What I normally do on the macbook to drag files is to 'left click' and hold the file, by clicking in the bottom left of the trackpad with one hand, then move the file with a finger of the other hand - this way if you run out of trackpad, you can remain clicked on the file, and just do another swipe with the other hand till you get to the destination folder.

So my question is - can you do the same on the magic trackpad? Click and hold it, then drag in several moves?
