Iphone X green line display issue

Green line appeared last night after 18 months of use. My phone had no drop or water damage. Went to genius bar and was told repair cost $279. I brought up this seems to be a common issue in Iphone X display hardware (based on my online research). They told me they can NOT trust what online says!! I also called Apple support, they pretty much backed up genius bar decision.

What should I do next besides paying for expensive repair to fix the hardware defect Apple created?
