Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.

I have a WD 4TB Ultra backup connected for my Time Machine backup. Every once in a while, it would give the message "Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder."

Now for the last 6 days it will not update and that is the message every time.

Any insight?
