macbook screen corrupted

My Macbook air has an issue where about every 24 hours the screen gets corrupted and the computer is unusable. Sometimes a loud painful series of beeps also sound. I hold down restart and then it returns to normal.

I have NOT yet tried reinstalling the operating system, as I have applications that I cannot put back onto the new system for a number of reasons.

Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling the OS (I don't even know if that would fix it?). Could it be hardware related?

A long shot but boot into Safe Mode and run there for a bit. Reboot normally and see if there's any change in the graphics behavior.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.

It sounds like you have a memory or Logic Board failure. Since the memory is integrated onto the Logic Board you will need to get the laptop repaired by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
