Messages app not responding.

I cannot open my Messages on my MacBook. What to do? It says "Application not responding". How do I wake it up?

Hello,

Lets try this, with Messages in its unresponsive state pull down the Apple Menu  -> Force Quit. Find Messages in the Force Quit window, tap on Messages, then tap on Force Quit. Now attempt to open Messages again.
