I have forgotten the restrictions passcode on my son’s apple devices, and it needs to be reset, how can I do this?

I have forgotten the restrictions passcode that I had placed on my son’s iPhone and iPad, and I need to unlock it in order to get him an app that he will be needing for school. How can I go about resetting this passcode?

If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

...and then you will have to set it up as a new device, NOT from backup which will restore the restrictions passcode.
