I want to be able to keep photos on my Mac but delete off my phone.
I have iCloud on and photo stream on. My pics automatically upload to my desktop, I would be ok if they didn’t do that automatically if need be.

Apple's iCloud Photo Library does not have this feature at present.
To do this, you would need to transfer your phone's photos to your Mac.
