Again: iPhone X black screen - force restart not working

"I sent my iPhone X in for a small repair and just got it back today. I was able to use it just fine for maybe an hour or two before the screen completely blacked out while I was using snapchat. I could still feel the buzzing of the phone but the screen is completely black. I tried the force reset (volume up, then down, then hold the power button) many many times as well as plugging it in to iTunes but nothing is working. The computer doesn't even recognize that the phone is plugged it, but it does vibrate upon being plugged in. I'm feeling frustrated since this phone has been in repairs for more time than it has worked. Any help is appreciated."

Hello kayap96,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with your iPhone X. The steps you mention to force restart it don't seem correct for that model. Please re-try the steps:

Did anyone bother to review this? Did anyone actually read what the this lady wrote? She did follow the right steps for her iPhone X. "volume up, then down, then hold the power button" this should have been your first clue that she did exactly what she was supposed to do to put this model into recovery mode or DFU mode. What are you guys doing? There is a reason why customer support for this company has fallen since 2011 the last Apple was number one in support. Next! "The computer doesn't even recognize that the phone is plugged it (in), but it - does vibrate upon being plugged in. - ""I'm feeling frustrated."" What does that mean to you? Did you even read this? How much do you know about the product you support? Allow me to clarify the issue for you. She received her device back after a repair which is done as we all know by a third party. Soon after receiving the device the screen goes black. This is an iPhone X. The device is still functioning but she cannot interact with the screen. This means she can neither unlock with face recognition nor input her passcode to unlock the device. That completely and utterly aside she gives you what should be the BIGGEST key of information in that besides the fact that she did exactly what she needed to do for this model to put it into recovery mode she also plugged the device into her computer. Again! Here I have to wonder... "did you just not care Sterling? Or are you really this bad at what you do for a living? If not this was a very poor showing. Its ok we all have bad days but seriously Sterling... this is unacceptable. Back to it. The computer Mac Windows you should know it doesn't matter, the computer is not recognizing the device! Do you know what device manager is? How about system information? Yeah? So she plugged in an external device into a port on her computer. The computer on its own simply by the fact that it has been docked with should recognize whatever it is that docked with it and list it as a device under the previous menus that I mentioned. I am sure you would have come here too had you done anything, but you didn't and I did because I like her having purchased this device for close to $1k I also have HAVE the same issue. The device is not listed under system info or device manager. The power port on the device receives power but it not trying to talk with any other device. This is obviously a hardware issue. Obviously. This for me was an anniversary gift that I got for my wife. I told her to get AP+ she forgot just past one year we have this same issue. I know what I am doing. If this was possible to fix via software solutions I would have never even seen this post. I am now looking at just breaking the device down and fixing it myself. After scheduling an appointment at the Apple Store my wife was basically told without any kind of explanation... "yeah this just happens with these models you can pay to fix it, but thats about it." What was the issue? What was damaged? They gave us no info, no insight, no what options are available. I've been on disability for months. My stomach is rotting and I am in pain everyday and yet even in this state I still cared more about this customer and her issue than probably anyone who will ever read this ever did ever could or ever will. This is shameful and I am honestly deeply saddened to say that the company I love has literally priced me right out of their product line. This iPhone X will sadly be our last. My sickness has actually bankrupted us and I still have no answers what so ever about what is actually wrong with me. The world is just full of people who don't care enough about their neighbors. It is deeply saddening. Please do not reply I only wrote this for the person who originally posted and to release my own frustration for what to me appears to be a rather lack luster performance in caring about people and their issues.
