MacBook Air to ASUS screen: No signal

I bought a screen today (ASUS VA249) and want to connect my MacBook to it. (MacBook Air 11-inch - Mid 2013 - Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB)

I've done this before with another monitor using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable. Previously there were similar problems with the old monitor, but they were always resolved when I restarted the MacBook.

The new screen displays "HDMI no signal" with great persistence...

I have tried all types of restarts and re-connections possible to both the MacBook and the screen. Drivers and OS are updated. I currently do not have another screen or computer to isolate the source of the problem.

I would really appreciate your help !!!

Hello,

WIth the display connected to your MacBook head into System Preferences -> Displays and tap on Detect Displays. What kind of adapter are you using to connect the MacBook to the display?

Hello,

Are you able you able to access the display’s settings? The display could be defaulted to using a resolution that is lower than what the MacBook is outputting.
