My MacBook Pro no longer is working properly after this update. It continues to restart on its own and gives me a prompt about Chrome not shutting down properly.

boot into Safe mode, and then install the update
<http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564>
This will not load any 3rd party additions, it will load some more conservative Apple drivers (may cause screen flicker), and it will clear some kernel caches (a cache is saved data in a form that can speed up a program, but is totally redundant to the original source, and thus can be safely cleared). Booting into Safe mode is just an experiment, but can frequently eliminate any 3rd party interference, or a cached item out-of-sync with the world. (Verify Safe mode via Applications -> Utilities -> System Information -> Software -> Boot Mode -> Safe vs Normal)
Yes, I'm glad you told me about that app--it really works well--I told my brother about it too--he has a 2010 model that was fixed by Apple under the expired program but I've read that some of those have still had problems over time as well.
In MFC you can enable logging which may help.

OK--here's the reading I got:
Same issues occurred in Safe Mode. Problems continue.
I've since found that that didn't work for anybody else either... do you have a Time Machine Backup you can Restore to?
No.
I got the same problem here too. Looks like they pulled it today.
It seems they released a fix just a few hours ago.
They've sent a fix the other day. It works. Try updating your computer.
I'm talking about the fix. It doesn't work.
I also upgraded from High Sierra to Mojave. Everything is wokring as advertised.
I'm not going to install it on my Macs.
I think we all would like it if Apple would let us simply download the full installers.
Hardware tests are really lacking, especially as far as testing RAM or Drives.
Have you blown the dust out lately?
Does it start better when allowed to cool down completely?
Those temps aren't too bad, mid 70°s C. is where things start getting pretty worrisome.
