Possible workaround...

I was able to get the shutdowns to stop by disabling computer sleep when display is off.

system preferences -> energy saver -> check "Prevent computer from sleeping when display is off"

I found that after the High Sierra Security Update 2019-004, my Macbook now crashes every time I close the lid (Black screen - "Your computer will restart because of a problem).

I can put the display to sleep and leave the lid open without a problem. I recommend doing this if you are connected to power.

Lots of reports of that, have not seen a fix yet, but do you have a Time Machine backup?

I think that's the route I'll go. Been nervous about hosing anything in my development setup, but seems to be worth it. Guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend!
