iPod 3rd Generation 2003

Hi,

Can anyone tell me?

Will modern earphones (single pin) work with the 3rd Generation iPod Classic 2003?

I ask this because the 3rd Generation model has two sockets... one similar to the modern single pin and, beside it, another small rectangular socket. I no longer have my original earphones which, I remember, has a jack with both a single pin and another smaller plug beside it.

I'd kind of like to get my old iPod working again.

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod_Classic#3rd_generation three is a regular 3.5mm jack socket and a second for a custom remote. Regular headphones should work fine.
