Wifi network requesting username and password to connect

Hello,

I am unable to connect to my wifi at home on both my MacBook Air 10.7.5 and iMac 10.6.8. My partner is able to connect on his iPhone and newer laptop and I am also able to connect on my iPhone, so it isn’t an issue with the wifi signal. It is asking for a username and password to connect, which is also bizarre. I have tried forgetting forgetting the network, deleting all my saved networks and readding, renewing the dhcp lease...basically all the suggestions I could find on the internet. Nothing has worked! Help!!!

Side note. The date and time on the laptop has changed to December 31st, 2011...

FYI: If you do not have issue with other devices does not mean your Wi-Fi is working perfectly.

Try logout all devices, reboot router and start connecting one by one.

See also if there's firmware update from your Wi-Fi manufacturer.

Apple Store have free Wi-Fi, try your MacBook Air there.

That's odd, maybe that's why.

Make a genius bar appointment with Apple for an evaluation.

They have diagnostic tools and can tell you what options you have.

Do you also have issue connecting to other Wi-Fi hotspot?

Do you have Mac (media access control) address restricted (not your Mac computer) on your Wi-Fi router?

Yes if you have Mac access list on your router.

Also make sure you use WPA2 as security.

I haven’t tried a hotspot yet, but will definitely give that a try tomorrow. If I’m not able to connect on other networks either, any idea what the cause might be? It seems so strange that my two older computers are having this problem at the same time. I did notice that the IPv4 is blank even after i refresh the dhcp on both computers. Thanks for your help!

Thanks. Unfortunately I don’t have an apple store where I live, but I’ll take it to one of the suppliers and have them take a look. I did call my internet provider and they tested the signal - all looked good. I also reset the router and restarted all devices. No luck! I didn’t ask about the firmware so I can try that too.

i have my other devices registered, but not my iMac and MacBook Air. Is that something you would recommend?

Ok, I registered them. I still can’t connect to the internet - now its saying “connection timeout”. I’ll take it in to have someone look at it like you suggested. Thanks for your help.
