Why does mailto: appear before an email address when I paste it? It didn't do this in the past in iOS but seemed to start happening a year or so ago. Is there a way to turn this off? Every time I copy and past an email address I have to delete the mailto: part.

mailto is a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) scheme for email addresses. It is used to produce hyperlinks on websites that allow users to send an email to a specific address without first having to copy it and enter it into an email client.
Where did you copy it from?
It must be your accounting software.
Just tested pasting e-mail address from iMessage to the Notes app, it knows it's a link but not showing mailto:
Tap on it will open my Mail app ready for composing.

Copied from an iMessage, I get that it's used for hyperlinks in programming but how many everyday users need a hyperlink? I just want to be able to copy an email address from a text or email and paste it into another program like my accounting software when I'm adding a client and their email address without having to delete the mailto: part every time. The mailto part seems like its only useful for programmers and developers.
