Missing a firmware partition (Mac OS Yosemite to Mac OS Mojave)

I bought a used Macbook Pro 15 (Mid 2014), running Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.5. on external SSD. I downloaded Mac Os Mojave for update my OS but it says that missing firmware partition. What should i do? Below is my macbook specs and details.


 Model Identifier: MacBookPro11,3

  Boot ROM Version: MBP112.0138.B21

  SMC Version (system): 2.19f12

The laptop needs to have an internal SSD installed which is properly formatted with a GUID partition and HFS+ (Journaled) format so the firmware updater can run from the internal drive. I know you are installing/upgrading an external drive, but the macOS installer forces this requirement.


If the laptop contains a third party internal SSD such as the OWC Aura, then you may need to apply an OWC firmware update to the SSD first. The SSD firmware update may not be on their support download site so you may need to search for it. I know they mention it in one of their blogs.
