I want to download all 35K photos from iMac iCloud to external hard drives. i keep getting an "error" message stopping me from downloading. i forward the "error" message to iCloud Team about 100Xs and nothing has happened.

Hello People,

i was given directions from iCloud Team but it was about downloading my 35K images from my iPad Pro 10.5, not my iMac. i want to download all my images from iCloud on my iMac. i keep getting an "error" message, that says nothing but "ignore" or tell "Apple". i report it to apple. About 100Xs so far. nothing has helped. the warning continue to stop my downloading my photos and the days are getting shorter. the limit is 30 days to get you images downloaded from your iCloud account. in my case to several external mobile 4GB Hard Drives. i can do nothing but keep paying Apple money i don't have, and they gladly ignore me and take my cash. the "error" warning comes with no instructions. it just is that, i have an "error". i had to reactivate the iCloud and pay for storage as no help is forth coming. Please help me get out of iCloud and download all my iMac images if you know how. thank you all in advance.

sincerely

hello

i have no issues with anything other than i said i hate iCloud. Apple has placed a non-existent "ERROR" to freeze my account but keep collecting the cash. they found my file entitled APPLESHITFORBRAINS which should have read APPLE'SHITFORBRAINS. after all they do have some of or most off the best talent. a "HIT" for brains is what it was suppose to say. left out the apostrophe i think they call it. so i'm in the dog house and they did delete my entire remaining images just days into my downloading about 2 years ago. i was almost done when they destroyed my best work. i have no idea why they did it, but i will always remember it. i'm not one to go one a fool's errand. i know the problem and have no idea how they can ruin a person's portfolio of images that has taken yrs to make. i edit computer images also, people use to laugh a that. not any longer. the images are beautiful.

anyway, now you know what is going on. sorry you neither helped nor solved the problem, but i applaud your efforts. thank you so much. i am an apple freak since my first computer, but all macs. i'm 65. too old for these games. the i hate iCloud was heart felt as i would rather backup my own work on external hard drives. i have no idea what they want from me or what i could possibly do to get my images out of Apple's hands and into my HDs.

again, thanks for the help. greatly appreciated. i wonder if this correspondence will make it to you unmolested?

Hey Ali,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you're trying to download a large amount of photos from iCloud to your Mac (and then external drives) but are running into an error message. I'm happy to help!

First, you can get the instructions for downloading iCloud Photos to your Mac in the Apple Support article Download iCloud photos and videos - Apple Support. There are two ways to do it, either using the Photos app or going to iCloud.com directly in your browser.

Once you start downloading, there are a number of reasons why you may be experiencing the error message, especially considering how many you have to download. Since the issue could related to the number of photos, the network you're using, your computer's energy and sleep settings, a problem with one of the pictures, or a number of other situations, we'll want to isolate and troubleshoot.

To start that process, quit any open apps, then restart your Mac: How to turn your Mac on or off - Apple Support. Next, try downloading your pictures in smaller batches. This will help determine if there is a picture causing the issue, or if it was the number of pictures. Continue reducing the amount of photos in each batch until you've found the problem picture(s), or a number of photos that doesn't cause the error.

I can also suggest trying to download the pictures in safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support and a new user account: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support, both of which will help us determine if the issue is related to other software, settings, or files. Additionally, the articles provided will give you some instruction on how to proceed, depending on the outcome of testing.

Cheers!
