read receipts not working ios 12.4

I assume you are on iMessage and not on a third party app, if you are running a third party messaging app, contact the developer.

If you are on iMessage, It may be that you have not turned on read receipts in Settings:

1. Open up Settings. Scroll down to Messages.
2. Either toggle Send Read Receipts on or off depending on what you prefer.

If this does not solve your issue, you should restart your iPhone. Or if this doesn't work, contact Apple Support.

Then, I recommend either Factory Resetting iPhone or contacting Apple Support.

It would be better if you can post a screenshot, in order to understand the phenomenon better.

You may get better and prompt responses if you may kindly provide the iPhone Model that you have and the iOS version if it is known to you.

noooo mine was doing that thing were it shows that it was read and then changes back to delivered. Now it isn't working at all anymore. and I have 12.4 and an XR. Happening with 2 contacts that have them on for me.

I have tried:

1. changing my Apple ID
2. logging in and out of imessage
3. toggling the read receipts
4. resetting network settings
5. factory resetting my phone

When I contacted Apple Support they had me do everything over again. This time for the factory reset through itunes. Nothing has worked.

And they only really started not working after the update to IOS 12.1

@SravanKrA This person did give the iOS version and the phone model. You can see above the post date and they put the iOS version in the title.

Are you saying you’re not receiving read receipts from those contacts, or they are not receiving yours?
