macbook air will switch on when lid opens

Does the macbook air 13 inch (2019) will automatically switch on when i open the lid? I am curious because the first week i bought it, it will not switch on automatically. But then after 2 weeks i'm using it, whenever i open the lid, it will switch on automatically. Thank you.
