SSD storage

Hi, I’m looking at purchasing a new MacBook Pro. I’m concerned that the entry level Mac doesn’t have enough storage as 128gb seems fairly low. I would only use it for storing Word and excel documents with quite a lot of photos in 4K.

I definitely agree with @BobTheFisherman. I recommend everyone purchase at least a 256GB SSD these days especially when the drive is not upgradable after purchase. You would be amazed at how quickly a drive fills up.

FYI, a 128GB SSD can only store about 120GB of data when formatted so you've already lost 8GB right away.

As for memory, 8GB is the bare minimum and I usually strongly urge getting 16GB since memory in most Apple products is no longer upgradable after purchase.

I'd think 256 GB at the minimum. I've got one of the last SATA drive MBPs and I just installed a 1 TB SSD. Not as fast as the current MBPs but I'm not lacking for storage now.

If you're really all that concerned maybe 256 GB and then add an external SSD. SATA drives will max out the transfer rate of USB 3, but some external SSDs are based off of different form factors/formats.
