How do you connect the Homepod to an apartment wifi network with it

My new college apartment wifi network has its own password and my homePod won't connect. Any ideas?

See the Get started section of Set up and use HomePod - Apple Support, in particular the following comment:

HomePod doesn't support public or subscription networks with sign-in requirements or enterprise-style deployments

See also About iOS Software Updates for HomePod - Apple Support which, perhaps, suggests that updating your HomePod's firmware might help (12.2 & 12.3 release notes).

Check your HomePod has the latest software installed. It should be at 12.4 now. This newer versions might help with wifi.

HomePod will copy the same wifi network of the iOS device you set it up with. Mine has a password and it connects.

if you can’t connect, reset homepod and set it up again with an iOS device that’s using this wifi.
