Apple TV 4k constantly losing iTunes library solved (for me)

My ATV 4k was constantly disconnecting from my iTunes library. I would select a folder in ATV and then slide show. It would start then drop-off, could not find the library. I tried everything: update, reset, reboot, reinstall (ATV and iTunes), move the library folders back to C: drive, uncheck/check sharing, new routers, new WiFi adapters, new Ethernet cables, new ATV 4k, new computer system, fresh install Window 10 Pro, hard-wired Ethernet, new Samsung QLED TV, registry tweaks, iTunes child folder inherited sharing permissions, and Apple support. Nothing worked. Finally, while I was looking at my Apple iTunes account on my computer, not in iTunes, I saw that I had multiple Windows 10 devices and that the ATV 4k was not one of the devices. All other devices were there; two iPhones, two iPads, two Apple Watches and my other ATV 4th gen, which worked properly. There were multiple instances of Win 10 MediaServer as I had reinstalled windows several times and had used 3 different computers. So, I removed all the Win 10 devices and re-authorized my current computer. To get the ATV 4k added, iCloud had to be turned on for that device in settings, too. The ATV 4k is now working properly. All the other things I tried can, in fact, cause problems but this is where I finally ended-up. This occurred after I built a new, powerful MediaServer computer with everything completely re-installed, but ATV 4k only worked after I sorted-out the authorized devices. Hope this helps, someone. The multiple devices must have confused iTunes/ATV 4k.

tt2,

I was having Win 10 screen saver problems (not working) and read that USB devices may interfere. I narrowed it down to a USB3 Lexar Professional Workflow HR1 Hub that I use to download camera memory cards. When disconnected it, my screensaver started working as did my Apple TV 4k slideshow function; 25 MB jpgs every 2 seconds. Thanks for your support!

regards,

Alan

Hi, I have set my PC to never sleep, never stop the HDD, keep ports running, etc. It will do it when the computer is awake and in use. Thanks for the suggestion. I was looking for any setting that might send a wake packet but I believe that is for Mac, only. I was also looking for a photo cache folder for the ATV 4k but do see one.

tt2, I have been playing around with the router IP addresses. There are multiple devices. ATV, mediaserver. I have tried different combos. I never had to reboot the computer or ATV before but that is when it's most stable. After I play a game it seems to be worse so I reboot. Sometimes I suspect my Samsung QLED TV. I have rest, updated, recabled that , too. I even have suspected the Bose soundbar. A lot of players here. My ATV 4th gen is much more stable. I've had ATV's for years. All seems to have started when I got a new tv and soundbar, though. I appreciate your help that you have been giving me.
