Restoring iPod

I want to download music to my iPod which needs to be restored. If I click on restore all of my media and other data will be erased. What media & what data r they referring to?

How are you restoring it ? If this : Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support it mean everything on the iPod, the iPod will be completely wiped and replaced with the contents of that backup.

As far as I know you should be able to sync content to an iPod Classic without restoring it, I've only come across that message for iPhones and iPads. Try reposting in the iPod Classic forum : https://discussions.apple.com/community/ipod/ipod_classic

Yes if I understand your answer correctly. I bought an album on itunes and downloaded it to my laptop. Now I want to download it to my ipod so I want to sync my ipod with my laptop but when I try to do that the "restore" popup appears. How do I sync my ipod and bypass the restore popup? Thank you.
