airdrop not working

I have successfully used air drop to transfer data from my iPhone to my Macbook Pro until the past week or so. I have checked to ensure that blue tooth is on, that the Macbook Pro shows in the Blue Tooth settings as "searchable." Why is the phone and the computer suddenty failing to hook up? Air Drop seems to be working with the iPhone because it continues to recognize my wife's iPhone when I attempt to air drop a file. For some reason, the MacBook Pro isn't discoverable, even though by all appearances it should be.

Before you begin

Before you begin, check the following:

  • Make sure that the person you're sending to is nearby and within Bluetooth and Wi-Fi range.
  • Check that you and the person you're sending to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. If either of you have Personal Hotspot on, turn it off.
  • Check if the person you're sending to has their AirDrop set to receive from Contacts Only. If they do, and you’re in their Contacts, they need to have your email address or mobile number in your contact card for AirDrop to work.
  • If you're not in their Contacts, have them set their AirDrop receiving setting to Everyone in order to receive the file.

You can put your AirDrop receiving setting to Contacts Only or Receiving Off at any time to control who can see your device and send you content in AirDrop.

I found the air drop receiving setting for the MacBook. Sure enough, it was set to "no one." I changed it to "Everyone," but it keeps changing itself to "No one" as soon as I close the finder. The air drop function is working well on all the other apple devices in the household, so the issue obviously concerns the MacBook. Any suggestions?
