MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) missing 2560 x 1440 resolution on 4K Monitor

Hi there,

My MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) works perfectly fine with Apple Thunderbolt display at native resolution of 2560 x 1440.

However, when I connect it to a 4K monitor, whether over Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 or DisplayPort to Mini-Display Port, I only see the following choices:

When I tried resolution tools like EasyRes or Resolution Tab, they did provide 2560 x 1440 @ 60Hz resolution, but it didn't look sharp. I guess because it's not listed is HiDPI or 2X retina.

So does my laptop support 2560 x 1440 @ 60Hz on a 4K monitor, over Thunderbolt 3 or DisplayPort? Here is the user manual and spec of my monitor, in case it matters.

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro which doesn't have this issue on my 4k monitor.

Thanks

MacBook Pro Retina

The settings you show, under "Scaled" tell your the 'looks like' resolution at which text will appear. It does NOT tell you the actual resolution the display will be using, and at which it renders graphics.
