MacBook Pro can’t set the native external screen resolution

I bought a new ultrawide monitor 144hz 21:9 3440x1440 native resolution. I was planing on connecting it to my MacBook Pro 15 inch 2016 with Radeon pro 450 with Mojave 10.14.6, the screen is connected with hdmi to usb-c dongle

The problem is that the MacBook doesn’t recognise the screens resolution and the highest one I can select is 2560x1440 which looks terrible. Not to mention that it’s only seeing it as 60hz screen (can’t change that). Is this a bug ? How can I set it to 3440x1440 with 144hz? https://imgur.com/gallery/20PDsiL

That is my personal recommendation. They supposedly gave you a cable, now all you would need is an adapter.
